... and Abseiling?

After our epic ski day we got up early again and headed off with the polytech to go abseiling at Charleston on the Coast Road.  The Year 6's came with us this time as they didn't come skiing.  While we were skiing they were busy at West-a-Maths competition in Westport (so they'd been up that way twice in 2 days!  And then Wil and Jack had to go back up there on Saturday for Rugby rep games.)
Once again it was an AMAZING day up the coast and we got such amazing views abseiling next to the ocean.
These are some of what the kids thought about abseiling:
  • Alex Muir:- I felt scared and I had butterflies and at the start I thought I was going to fall but at the end it was fun.
  • Jack Fayen:- I had a lot of fun and got a good view. I got bored from having to wait in line for 1 turn.
  • Sophia Keown-Well at first I was a little bit scared thinking of the bad things that could happen on the bus. As we got there we had to put on gear and helmets then walked off onto a path. It was fun to walk through a forest then be taught the history of Charleston. As we learnt how to tie or our knots etc, I was first to walk of a cliff trusting the rope and the person holding the safety rope. I was terrified, shaking thinking if I would fall. Finally I started walking down it wasn’t so bad after it all in fact after that it was really fun.
We all had a lot of fun and hope we can do it again.
