Pet Day 2017

We had such a great day today for Pet Day.  Kelan and Kurt organised the Blackball site day and Crystal and Izaac organised the Dobson site day.  We had some really cool pets including Koura - native freshwater crayfish, frogs, rabbits, goats, dogs, cats, kittens, hens and chickens and a calf.

A big thanks to all the local businesses that generously donated prizes to us too:

  • Greymouth Vet
  • Mitre 10
  • Paroa Stockfeed
  • The Warehouse
  • Farmlands
  • PGG Wrightsons
Thanks to our Judges too!

Check out some of our photos of the day

  1. Hi, my name is Isaac. That is really very cool cause I have never seen a freshwater lobster. I thought they were all saltwater. Also can you show me the photo of the frogs? I like amphibians, crustaceans and fish. I also see that little lobster next to the big one I wonder if they are related to each other? If you can reply please tell me the name of the lobster. If you want to check my blog here is the link: http://odsisaacw.blogspot.com/ See you later.

  5. Hi Room 8, Ethan here from Owairaka Primary School. I really like how some students organised this whole event. Were the pets owned by the students or did other people bring animals in? Did you guys get to play with the pets? Also maybe next time have a training day for animals. I'm just really curious did the people that donated prizes give you gift cards or give you something else? If so what did they give? 8. Kia ora Ruma Waru,
WOW there were some interesting pets at pet day. I have never heard of a korua or a frog at pet day before. Did you catch the korua yourselves? How big do they grow? My son used to have pet frogs and we had to catch flies for them to eat or buy flys which was a bit strange! Thanks for sharing your photos.
